Should a contractor be hired during the COVID-19 scare?

Written by Nicholas Donlin | Mar. 20, 2020

Has the Coronavirus pandemic made you question the priorities for your home? You are not alone.  Here at Zenith Design + Build, we've been thinking about this... as a home remodeler and home owners ourselves.

We all are rethinking how we interact with each other to stay safe. You may be feeling unsure about having a contractor out to your home to provide a quote for your project. As you should!  We get it. Which is why we are taking steps to make our customers and employees safe and comfortable.

That said… what if a home remodeling contractor does not have to go inside your home to provide you with the estimate? A win - win!

Here are options for you to keep your projects moving forward:

1. Video Chat. Using Facetime or another video app, walk me through your project, send approximate measurements to me and I can email you an estimate. We have done this before and can make it work.

2. Exterior Work, Basement Remodel. If you need new siding, windows, or your basement is in need of updates, I can visit your home to measure these areas with little or no interaction with you or your living space. I also will take extra precautions during my visit by wearing gloves, etc.

We're doing what we do best to help our community.... home improvement! We're adjusting, but will be here if you want to get ahead, and ensure your project gets on our schedule sooner than later, beating the spring rush.

Of course, we will adjust again if this current health situation requires more changes to how we conduct business.

If you'd like a free consult and estimate, call Kelly to discuss your project. 515-518-0237. She will set up a time for me to look at the space by video or in person. After the initial consult, you will receive a written estimate by email. Our estimates are good for 30 days, which means you've got some time to decide and know what to budget for.  What happens during the remodel?

  • No handshakes.
  • Installers constantly sanitize and wash their hands
  • Minimum time spent in your home. We’ll come in ONLY if we absolutely must. If we don’t have to come in, we won’t!
  • Maintaining a suitable distance between you and our work crew at all times.
  • The best floor to ceiling temporary protection, between the work area and living space, along with a daily, thorough job site cleaning.

The Zenith crew will take precautionary measures to ensure the most sanitary and clean job site as possible. And we will follow the CDC rules with ZERO exceptions.

On the positive side...

  • The feds just dropped the interest rate by 1% which can be good news if you're planning to finance your project and there are other measures they are looking to do to add the financial burden of this situation.
  • You now have more quality time with your family. Utilize this to play more games and engage the old school way :)
  • If you have kiddos and they are still home when we get started, this is a great opportunity to teach kids about construction.
  • We are now installing an Ultraviolet Coil Purifier on furnaces of all our jobs at no cost to our homeowners, which inhibits the growth of viruses, similar to what is used in healthcare facilities to help eliminate the spread of any viruses.
As a local, small business, we appreciate the opportunity to earn your business.  See what this South of Grand homeowner had to say about her experience with us. Kitchen Remodel Video

Sincerely,
