Meet The Shannons

Matt and Shannon are a sweet couple with a beautiful Waterbury home. Their existing kitchen was nonfunctional with a corner sink. Matt is a former chef and wanted space to cook with commercial-grade appliances. The clients considered just an upgrade to the existing space, but after meeting with multiple other contractors they decided Zenith would give them the best design for their budget. Investing in their home in this coveted neighborhood is sure to pay off.

The Shannons' Remodeling Project Scope

Matt and Shannon’s main priorities were to create a functional, chef-inspired kitchen and update their home to better suit their lifestyle.

Key updates included:

  • Removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room to create an open, inviting layout
  • Installing all-new cabinetry, countertops, and commercial-grade appliances to meet Matt’s culinary needs
  • Refinishing the existing hardwood floors to bring warmth and continuity to the space
  • Updating the hall bathroom to accommodate very tall Matt, adding a walk-in tile shower, tiled floors, and a modern sink for a clean, functional design

Project Challenges

One challenge we faced was a structural header in the hallway that ended in a pantry cabinet, which disrupted the flow and functionality of the space.

To solve this, we installed a flush beam, effectively supporting the structure while eliminating visual and spatial interruption. This solution not only maintained the integrity of the home but also enhanced the overall design, creating a seamless and functional layout.

Zenith has been so wonderful to work with so far! We love that they are transparent and make the process as streamlined as can be. They handle subs and permits. Their designers and superintendents are wonderful. We have had such a good experience with Lauren, Jon, and Jessica that I am okay with posting this review at the start of our renovations. I am that confident I won’t have to edit later, except maybe to add more praise.
